A kōan is a question that resists easy resolution.
Most of what matters does too.

Kōan is a structured social environment for people who want to think carefully, disagree honestly, and understand what is actually happening in the world. It is not a feed. It is not driven by an algorithm. It is a set of rooms, each with a different purpose and shared expectations.

Most social platforms are designed to accelerate — to fragment attention, provoke reaction, and move you on before you have finished thinking. Kōan is designed to do the opposite: to give you room to read, to consider, and to respond with care.

There is no advertising. No engagement algorithm. No like counts visible to other users. Moderation is real, transparent, and accountable. Kōan is for adults who want a social environment that respects their intelligence.

Five rooms. Each with a purpose.

Casual Personal views, everyday discussion, and human connection.
Education Established knowledge, credible sources, and shared understanding.
Deliberation Collective decisions, civic institutions, and reasoned argument.
Exploration Speculative thinking, unconventional ideas, and open questions.
Sense-Making Understanding what is actually happening. Sources required.
